Laser strike on planes in Waikato

Two Air New Zealand pilots raised concerns about lasers being pointed at their planes as they flew over the Waikato on Tuesday night. In separate incidents, a laser was pointed at a plane in Te Kauwhata at 7.40pm. And another flight at 8.30pm had a laser pointed at it over Te Awamutu. The planes were on their way to Auckland Airport, Waikato police Senior Sergeant Simon Cherry said. Both pilots contacted police. Cherry said if anyone knows of any high powered lasers or of people doing this, they need to come forward to the police.
