It’s not Sunday without the

- Jonathan Milne, editor

Tomorrow, New Zealand’s national newspaper relaunches in a convenient new compact format, with a fresh menu of the quality news, investigations and lifestyle journalism that has made it integral to the country’s weekend.

Your favourite writers and cartoonists – Alison Mau, David Slack, Lynda Hallinan, Phil Gifford, Kylie Klein Nixon, Guy Williams, Sharon Murdoch and more – will be joined by a whole new slate of experts, like Howto Dad Jordan Carter, clinical psychiatrist Dr Hinemoa Elder, technology guru David Court and sports commentator Emma Keeling.

CONVENIENT

Our trademark journalism will be poured into four new sections for you to share with your family: The main news, business, property and features section; a liftout containing the best and latest sport; your new refreshed Escape travel and entertainment magazine; and New Zealand’s only glossy Sunday magazine chock-full of premium features, fashion and food.

SMART

Our two full pages of crosswords, cryptics, sudokus, code-crackers and more are being bolstered with news, sports and lifestyle quizzes at the start of each section – and to get the brain ticking over in the morning with your first cup of coffee, a new Kiwi quick crossword on the back page.

USEFUL

Much-loved food writers Sam Mannering and Jordan Rondel are joined by Anna King Shahab, whose weekly column will explore all aspects of food with the aim of ‘‘planting a seed rather than giving a recipe’’. Her love of food grew from travelling as a child; she believes food is something we all have in common that enables us to learn about each other and how to get along.

NATIONAL

From making it safer for kids to walk and cycle to school, to our robust investigations into political donations, every week we cement our position as New Zealand’s national paper. Tomorrow, we kick off a big national conversation about the values that define Kiwis in the 21st century – with a major study revealing how our old values of insularity and strong, silent stoicism have been replaced with an outward-looking embrace of diversity and innovation.

INSPIRING

Tomorrow, in the beautifully designed glossy Sunday magazine, some of New Zealand’s favourite writers – Leah McFall,

NZ Gardener editor Jo McCarroll and journalist Paula Penfold – offer their tips on one of the biggest challenges of all: How to

be happy. That’s a weekly goal: We want to send you, our readers, out into the world uplifted on a Sunday.

The Sunday Star-Times will be available in all major retailers, north to south. Or if you would like to subscribe, call us on 0800 339 000 or email subscribers@stuff.co.nz.

And most important, tell us what you think! This newspaper is crafted to give New Zealanders what they want to read on a Sunday – so email us at compact@stuff.co.nz to tell us what you love and how we’re doing.
