Gang member arrested

-

A senior member of the Killer Beez gang has been arrested for drug and firearm offences. The 31-year-old man was arrested in Thames on Tuesday afternoon. He was held in custody by police overnight and was due to appear in Hamilton District Court yesterday. He is facing methamphetamine and firearms charges. ‘‘We don’t tolerate gangs in our area and organised crime brings a huge amount of social harm to members of our community,’’ Detective Sergeant Matt Rawson of eastern Waikato police said. ‘‘We urge anyone with information about illegal activity to come forward and let police know, anonymously if necessary. ‘‘We rely on the community to help us by being our eyes and ears, so we can stop this activity taking place.’’ This arrest follows the conviction of another man in Thames in July for possession and supply of illegal drugs including methamphetamine. The 50-year-old was sentenced to seven years jail after police uncovered a raft of illegal drugs and cash in his Thames home.
