Cleaning workers exploited
A Waikato company and its director have been ordered to pay a total of $37,500 for exploiting six staff who were underpaid by more than
$17,300. A Labour Inspectorate investigation found Jagran Property Services, owned by Jagendra Prasad, failed to pay minimum wage and holiday pay and keep accurate records, and charged an employee a premium to have a work visa. The company operates a Crew Care Commercial Cleaning and Green Acres Mobile Care Valet in Waikato. The Employment Relations Authority has ordered Jagran to pay
$25,000 and Prasad to pay $12,500.
