Valentine’s Day man — he’s up for sale Wilding’s packages

- Steph Rangi steph.rangi@stuff.co.nz

Whether you’re a pie and soft drink kind of lady or the type to camp out in a car, one Valentine is hopeful he has something for you.

Taupo¯ ’s Peter Wilding has put himself on both the dating and commodity market by offering a range of quintessential Kiwi dates for ladies looking to pay for the pleasure of his company on February 14.

Options range from a visit to the local swimming hole Spa Park – complete with pie and drink – through to a gourmet dinner and sleepover in Wilding’s car.

In the fine print there will be a $10 discount on all deluxe packages if the ladies have a cute small dog he can play with and all packages are subject to cancellation should Wilding find a lady beforehand. Two things prompted Wilding to put himself out there – he spotted something similar in Australia and made a decision that life is too short to take things too seriously.

I’d rather do this than spend my nights in the club trying to talk to people.’’

Wilding said he’s only been in the dating game for a few years due to suffering a brain bleed that almost killed him when he was 12.

‘‘The fact that I am alive is insane but the fact that I function like I do is ridiculous, it’s miraculous, it’s unheard of. I had to relearn everything which wiped me out of the teenage dating scene.’’ Wilding said he retained much of his long-term memory but some vanished.

Hoping to get at least a couple of dates from his package offerings, Wilding classed himself as a good catch.

‘‘I love a good laugh. My promise to whoever I am with, if I make you upset, I will always make you laugh afterwards. [And] my other greatest asset is, I am told, I have a rocking beach body.’’

While Wilding is all for having fun and laughter, he would like to settle down one day and has a life plan should he meet his special someone.

‘‘I want to have a foster home with about six foster kids, probably in Australia,’’ he said. ‘‘We will raise pomeranian dogs as one source of income.’’

Wilding is hopeful something will come from his proposition.

‘‘There’s nothing wrong with being single but even in a small town like Taupo¯ , there’s got to be someone out there for everyone,’’ he said. ‘‘If I meet that person now or in six months that’s good for me.’’

‘‘I love a good laugh. My promise to whoever I am with, if I make you upset, I will always make you laugh afterwards’’.
