- Stuff

A British man charged after an incident at Auckland’s Takapuna Beach can now be named. Name suppression for James Anthony Nolan, 26, allegedly one of the ‘‘unruly’’ tourists, expired yesterday. Police confirmed he was still on the run. Nolan first appeared at the Auckland District Court on January 24. He was charged with assault with a weapon and reckless driving, however, at a subsequent appearance he was also charged with dishonestly using a document. Nolan was bailed until January 29 but failed to attend court and a warrant was issued for his arrest. At his first appearance, the court heard the digital printer had a wife and two children in Britain. Nolan is charged with assaulting Krista Curnow using a car as a weapon on January 13. Curnow previously told she felt ‘‘very intimidated’’ after she approached the group about their litter.
