Sala’s death mocked
Two Southampton supporters were detained by police after mocking the tragic death of Emiliano Sala at their side’s English Premier League home match against Cardiff City yesterday. During a minute’s silence prior to the start of the game at St Mary’s Stadium, two Southampton fans were pictured making aeroplane gestures. Sala, the 28-year-old Argentine, disappeared last month when flying over the English Channel to join his new Cardiff team, and his body was recovered on Friday. Cardiff were playing their first match since the tragedy, and went on to win 2-1 in a game where both teams wore black armbands. The two Southampton fans are set to be banned from future home games.
