There is a critical discussion to be had regarding the links between target audiences and marketing and publicity techniques.

Discussion with friends and garden-goers suggests that large chunks of the Hamilton population still do not realise that the Festival is aimed at everyone.

While the generosity of King Street Advertising as the marketing arm is acknowledged, there appears to be a slippage between the nature and intent of the Festival concept and processes employed by the marketers.
