Long recovery for mum, four children injured in crash
A mother and her four children seriously injured in a fatal smash near O¯ torohanga are in for a long recovery.
They were driving home to Hamilton on O¯ torohanga Rd about 6.30pm on November 25 when the crash happened.
The woman and her four children – aged 14, nine, eight and seven – were all injured in the crash that killed a 31-year-old man.
Their injuries were all serious and a Givealittle page said they would continue to recover in Waikato Hospital for some time.
‘‘Rehabilitation once discharged home will continue to be lengthy for all of them.
‘‘Lance, the father of these beautiful children will have big boots and responsibility to fill and will need all the help he can get to help his young family recover from their injuries.’’
The page was started to help buy a replacement vehicle for the family, as their car was a complete write-off, and also to help with any medical injuries.
After the page was set up there was a post in it that said Lance’s employer, Ignite Arts Academy in Cambridge had donated the family a van.
‘‘Lance and Karoline would like all those who donated to know that they have more than enough to maintain rehabilitation [and] medical costs, upgrade seatbelts and upkeep their new van and general living expenses.
‘‘[They] will never forget all of you who helped them, and they are forever grateful.’’
The page said the couple would also like to thank medical staff at Waikato Hospital for their ongoing care, and family and friends for their constant love and support.
