New Zealand Walk: Bream Head Coast Walks a bird watchers delight

- By Lyn Meredith

Book for four but only pay for three in May or October. Who could resist it! Not us!! Self guided but fully catered. That was Bream Head Walks, run by the Pearsons on Ody Road, Bream Head near Whangarei.

We arrived late afternoon on quite a miserable day and it was lovely to walk into a warm comfortable lodge. Well more a home really with all the modern conveniences and such lovely soft carpet. After a hot drink we settled in. Claire had left before dinner snacks and a day’s menu with instructions on what to do with the food left for our evening meal, breakfast and lunch. This occurred every day.

If you do these walks you are given a track guide and map/ ornithological notes.
