Add some zest to wet weather dressing with carefully styled colour

-

Bright sparks

A recent article about men’s fashion claimed that men’s style is best when it’s subdued. While I’d tend to agree on a personal level, what about guys who don’t want to look like a cerebral architect in a deconstructed navy blazer?

Personal style and individuality is important and, if you’re a guy with a penchant for wearing some colour, what of it?

Unfortunately, Kiwi men generally tend to steer away from anything sartorially challenging, colour included. But that’s the fun thing about clothes – you can create your own style that speaks about who you are. If you feel good in it and it makes you feel great, then go for it.

The high street has a stack of clothes that are bright and cheerful, but no one’s asking you to dress like a pinata. When the weather is bleak, look to the preppy bright hues on offer and pair them with subdued seasonal tones.

A dark green khaki and denims look great with a bright yellow or red raincoat. And we’re looking specifically at waterproof, energetic rainwear here, because on a bleak winter’s day a little bit of optimism (even via a bright-coloured umbrella) goes a long way.

Mix in equally vibrant sportswear and you’ll have an easy formula for winter dressing that radiates positive vibes. The perfect tonic to a dull day. Dan Ahwa
