Rugby Championship

-

Today, 9.30pm; tomorrow 2.55am.

Normal transmission resumes in this competition after the truncated version in Rugby World Cup year. The All Blacks are in Sydney tonight with memories of last year’s 27- 19 loss which cost them the title. Both teams had beaten South Africa and Argentina to go into the winner- take- all showdown. A week later at Eden Park, New Zealand prevailed 41- 13 to retain the Bledisloe Cup. Sydney hasn’t been the happiest hunting ground for the ABs in recent times. In 2014, they drew 12- 12 in the championship opener before cantering to the title, with Australia back in third. South Africa have home advantage early tomorrow morning when they face Los Pumas in Nelspruit and will fancy their chances of making it 22 wins from 23 games against the South Americans, who came closest to upsetting the Boks in 2012, when they held them 16- 16 in Mendoza. This promises to be high- scoring, though; in their previous 22 clashes, only once has there been fewer than 30 points scored — in 2014 when the Boks won 13- 6.
