FANS AWAIT DETAILS AT UNVEILING, WRITES DEREK FUNG

-

The long- awaited Vision Mercedes- Maybach 6 concept will be revealed at the 2016 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance this weekend.

However some images of the concept have been posted on Facebook, ahead of the event.

Westill don’t know any of the technical details about the concept, except that it will be “almost six metres of ultimate luxury”.

To put that into context, the Mercedes- Maybach concept will be almost a metre longer than the current- generation S- Class coupe, and 30cm longer than the long wheelbase Cadillac Escalade/ Chevrolet Suburban.

Despite its extreme length, the concept car has seating only for two people.

The minimalist interior features a wraparound dashboard design, an expansive heads- up display, electric blue highlights, and capacitive controls.

Up front, the Vision Mercedes- Maybach 6 features a deep grille flanked by thin LED headlights. Along the sides, the concept features gull- wing doors for entry and exit.

The tail of the car, as well as a chrome strip that runs from the tip of the bonnet and along the side of the concept, taper towards a low- set strip of LED tail- lights. Rearwards vision is no doubt compromised by the tiny rear windscreen and the shallow side windows.

At this stage we don’t know what lies under- neath the 6’ s long nose, but an electric drivetrain or something with at least 12 cylinders would not Leaked images of the Vision Mercedes- Maybach 6 were published online earlier this week. seem out of the question.

Hopefully some of the known unknowns are filled in by Mercedes- Benz when they officially unveil the Maybach this weekend.
