Motorsport fans spoilt for choice

-

This is the third successive weekend of major local motorsport with the Highlands 101 at Highlands Motorsport Park.

The Cromwell event follows the Hampton Downs 101 meeting and last weekend’s V8s at Pukekohe.

More than 200,000 fans will have turned out to watch the relatively rare international motorsport spectacles.

Many of the same fans will be eager to hear what’s on offer at the Leadfoot Festival, at the beginning of February on Rod Millen’s Leadfoot Ranch, on the Coromandel Peninsula.

Once again New Zealand motorsport legend Millen has invited a range of personalities to take part in the annual event.

Driven exclusively reveals today that two- time Indianapolis 500 winner Al Unser Jnr will be among the international motorsport stars tackling the famous Leadfoot driveway event next year.

Unser, a member of the Unser clan famous in the United States as motorsport stalwarts, is TONY VERDON obviously eager to accept Millen’s invitation.( See Matthew Hansen’s story on Page 21).

Other international motorsport stars are also coming for the event, and will be revealed soon.

On another note, the model on today’s cover is powered by the technologcally advanced new V8 engine developed by Audi engineers.

The engine develops a massive 900 Nmof torque, and is said to be the most powerful production SUV in the world.

Combining relatively light weight aluminium body parts with advanced electric and turb technology has allowed Audi to produce an exciting new model that not only drives superbly but also delivers excellent fuel economy along with its luxury ride.

It stands as proof that V8 engine technology continues to advance.
