Today is your last chance to vote for one of this country’s most inspiring people.

The Herald New Zealander of the Year has been celebratin­g those who make an outstandin­g contributi­on to New Zealand and beyond for 25 years.

For the first time this year, together with our radio partner The Hits, we have introduced a People’s Choice Award to allow us to recognise the truly inspiring stories in our communitie­s.

The nominees include police officers who made a split second decision to put their own lives at risk to save others; a teenager dedicated to preventing teen suicide; a woman who fought for cancer medication for the good of the country; a Paralympic star; fledgling politician; family violence campaigner and more.

Each have made a huge impact on our country.
