What I’d do

Fasitua Amosa

-

1 Get on my Honda CB750 and ride with my Dirty Rotten Thespians motorcycle club up Highway 16 to Wellsford, through Whangapiro to Goat Island. Get in the water and check the status of the kina and the fish. After salt must come sweet, so I’d visit Charlies Gelato Garden in Warkworth for two scoops: double chocolate and maple walnut. Then we'll blast back down Highway 1 and straight into Mercury Lane food court for a $ 15 BBQ pork wonton noodle soup from the Chinese place near the sliding doors that has all the photos of famous people like Richie McCaw.

Goat Island Marine Reserve, aucklandnz. com/ discover/ goat- island; Charlies Gelato Garden, 17 Sharp Rd, Matakana; Mercury Plaza Food Court, 23- 31 Mercury Ln.

2 Then a casual wander up to Freida Margolis in Grey Lynn for a pint from their ever- rotating taps of great beer. Roll into town and see what’s happening at Auckland Live Summer in Aotea Square and probably check out

Impostar at QTheatre cos that looks pretty interesting. Later on cap the evening at Tiger Burger for a Korean take on an American burger.

Freida Margolis, 440 Richmond Rd, Grey Lynn; Tiger Burger, 549 Great North Rd, Grey Lynn.

3 Coffee and breakfast at L’Oeuf. Their black rice pudding with lychee and coconut cream is one of the best things I've ever eaten. If the weather is good, it’s swimming in Takapuna, which is a twofer, as they have that exciting new playground with a tower that seems excessively high for children. Seriously. It’s massive.

L’Oeuf, 4a Owairaka Ave, Mt Albert.

4 I’ll see Pork Pie at the cinema to support my mates who work in the film industry. And then call into Chapel Bar in Ponsonby for a cheeky cider in the sun with people in “real” jobs, who have zero respect for Mondays.

Chapel Bar, 147 Ponsonby Rd, Ponsonby.

5 Just when that’s winding up and getting rowdy, cruise homeward via Satya Chai and Spice Shop in Sandringham for a hard chai, and pick up some of the best curry in town at Paradise Restaurant. Home to snuggle on the couch to Bill Burr's Netflix Special for the 7th time.

Satya Spice And Chai Shop, 515a Sandringham Rd; Paradise Restaurant, 591- 595 Sandringham Rd.

Fasitua is performing in Silo Theatre’s Revolt. She Said. Revolt Again. Until March 11 at Basement Theatre as part of Auckland Fringe. silotheatre. co. nz
