Any Aucklander who has braved the highway hell north has probably stopped for a bite at some unexpected­ly cool spots: The Cove in Waipu Cove, The Quay in Whangarei, Mangawhai’s The Dune or pop- up produce place The Vege Shack. They are all by partners Mike Fraser and Lloyd Rooney, with food from chef Craig Estick. The beachy locations explain the great sea food recipes ( the scallop salad with a Pasifika twist).
