Boomers should sell up

-

Should providing rental houses for drugged- up losers be an option for retirees? I think not. Ron Goodwin has suffered through a typically burgeoning problem with his P- contaminated rental property in Stanmore Bay. He shouldn’t have to endure that kind of stress and hassle in his retirement. Baby boomers are constantly criticised for owning multiple rental properties. And this supposedly prevents potential first home owners climbing on to the property ladder.

Here is my advice to retirees who own rental property. With house prices booming in Auckland, sell up and start living comfortably on the proceeds. There’s bound to be some reaction to this, however. Property management companies will lose some income. A flood in the housing market will ultimately reduce prices. But when you are in your mid- 70s being a victim of slob behaviour is intolerable. Come on Boomers, sell up, travel, enjoy your retirement and to hell with the ungratefuls. June Terry, Beach Haven
