Pa¯ mu Farms of NZ (“Pa¯ mu”) is the brand name of Landcorp Farming, New Zealand’s largest farmer. Pa¯ mu is on an exciting journey to transform New Zealand farming by carefully creating natural products that enhance living. Three years into this exciting transformation, Pa¯ mu is expanding from pure commodity production and into higher value consumer goods through the Pa¯ mu brand, with the aim of becoming a premium supplier of natural food products for niche markets globally. Pa¯ mu is an organisation of scale. It currently has approximately 1,000 FTE’s across 140 work sites throughout New Zealand from the Far North to the Deep South, as well as animal genetics, farm software and food company subsidiaries. Pa¯ mu is now seeking to appoint an exciting role on the executive team. The General Manager, People, Safety and Environment reports to the Chief Executive and is responsible for the provision of world class strategic Health and Safety, HR, OD, Communications, Performance & Quality and Environmental leadership. This is a very big, high profile role across key elements of Pa¯ mu’s transformative strategy. Some particularly exciting aspects of the role include;
• Taking an ongoing industry leadership role in health and safety and continuing the transformation to a safety culture
• Responsibility for quality assurance, including overseeing the roll out of Pa¯ mu Promise, driving the standardisation of best practice on all farms;
• Launching Australasia’s first Safety Academy focused solely on the agriculture sector;
• Leading Pa¯ mu’s focus on sustainability and environmental best practice – a critically important component of modern- day farming;
• Increasing the impact of Pa¯ mu’s external and internal communications program;
• Continuing to develop the organisation’s remuneration and talent retention and attraction strategies; and
• Leading and championing the cultural change programme within Pa¯ mu. This role will be a key counsellor to the Chief Executive and the Board and is more than just an HR leadership role. It is a broad and challenging role that will have impact on the industry and ultimately New Zealand. In keeping with the scale and importance of the role, we are seeking an intelligent, established HR executive capable of an impactful contribution across all aspects of Landcorp’s business. You will have highly developed relationship skills as well as the ability to develop and implement a world class people and capability strategy. It is critical that the General Manager has expertise in providing clear, strategic coordination across these disciplines and can focus the organisation on solutions to achieve transformational change.
