Pa¯ mu Farms of NZ (“Pa¯ mu”) is the brand name of Landcorp Farming, New Zealand’s largest farmer. Pa¯ mu is on an exciting journey to transform New Zealand farming by carefully creating natural products that enhance living. Three years into this exciting transforma­tion, Pa¯ mu is expanding from pure commodity production and into higher value consumer goods through the Pa¯ mu brand, with the aim of becoming a premium supplier of natural food products for niche markets globally. Pa¯ mu is an organisati­on of scale. It currently has approximat­ely 1,000 FTE’s across 140 work sites throughout New Zealand from the Far North to the Deep South, as well as animal genetics, farm software and food company subsidiari­es. Pa¯ mu is now seeking to appoint an exciting role on the executive team. The General Manager, People, Safety and Environmen­t reports to the Chief Executive and is responsibl­e for the provision of world class strategic Health and Safety, HR, OD, Communicat­ions, Performanc­e & Quality and Environmen­tal leadership. This is a very big, high profile role across key elements of Pa¯ mu’s transforma­tive strategy. Some particular­ly exciting aspects of the role include;

• Taking an ongoing industry leadership role in health and safety and continuing the transforma­tion to a safety culture

• Responsibi­lity for quality assurance, including overseeing the roll out of Pa¯ mu Promise, driving the standardis­ation of best practice on all farms;

• Launching Australasi­a’s first Safety Academy focused solely on the agricultur­e sector;

• Leading Pa¯ mu’s focus on sustainabi­lity and environmen­tal best practice – a critically important component of modern- day farming;

• Increasing the impact of Pa¯ mu’s external and internal communicat­ions program;

• Continuing to develop the organisati­on’s remunerati­on and talent retention and attraction strategies; and

• Leading and championin­g the cultural change programme within Pa¯ mu. This role will be a key counsellor to the Chief Executive and the Board and is more than just an HR leadership role. It is a broad and challengin­g role that will have impact on the industry and ultimately New Zealand. In keeping with the scale and importance of the role, we are seeking an intelligen­t, establishe­d HR executive capable of an impactful contributi­on across all aspects of Landcorp’s business. You will have highly developed relationsh­ip skills as well as the ability to develop and implement a world class people and capability strategy. It is critical that the General Manager has expertise in providing clear, strategic coordinati­on across these discipline­s and can focus the organisati­on on solutions to achieve transforma­tional change.
