Colliers business sales service

-

A team of Colliers International experts aims to change the way New Zealanders buy and sell businesses.

The Business Sales and Capital Solutions team, which is profiled in the latest Colliers Portfolio publication, has been established to deliver quality business investment opportunities backed by industry research and market knowledge.

The team is led by director Marcus Jacobson, whose investment career has spanned private equity, property, infrastructure, forestry, resources and capital raising.

Jacobson says there are distinct challenges to business sales and capital raising, so his team takes the time to understand their clients’ circumstances and goals.

“Our team takes a proactive approach to addressing the intricacies of each business sale or capital raise. We deliver successful services and maintain trusted relationships.”

The three- strong team boasts more than 40 years of experience, with a diverse but complimentary range of skills.

Jacobson’s most recent role was as CEO of Nga Maunga Whakahii o Kaipara Investments Ltd, where he oversaw the consolidation of assets and capital from Ngati Whatua o Kaipara’s $ 50 million plus Treaty of Waitangi settlement.

Earlier in his career, Jacobson headed AMP Capital Investors’ Acquisitions and Business Development team. He also has first- hand business ownership experience, having run a company that targeted investment in private equity and property, as well as agriculture and infrastructure opportunities.

“My investment background across multiple industries provides me with significant and relevant experience in understanding the requirements of both vendors and purchasers,” Jacobson says.

Investment manager Pauras Rege is a successful chartered accountant who has worked as a senior associate at PwC and, more recently, as a senior analyst at ASB Bank. He brings extensive experience in financial accounting, analysis, reporting and internal advisory services to the role.

“I’ll be helping Marcus drive the business by analysing industry prospects and sourcing new clients, raising capital, performing company valuations and deal structuring, carrying out due diligence, and executing sales processes.”

Broker Shelley May has 23 years of commercial experience, and continues to draw on those skills as a successful business broker. She owned, managed and expanded a water sports import and distribution company that grew the global O’Brien brand into a market leader.

More recently, as a business broker she has overseen 55 transactions in the last four years. “As both a business owner and broker, I can offer valuable experience and empathy when guiding vendors and buyers through the process,” she says.
