10- year- old sways CEO to video contest
Although Tesla doesn’t officially advertise, a young American fan of the car brand has convinced the company’s CEO Elon Musk to hold a video contest.
The 10- year- old Michigan girl, Bria Loveday, sent a letter ( yup, an old- fashioned letter) to Musk suggesting he hold a contest for Tesla fans as she’d noticed many homemade “commercials” by owners of the brand.
Bria’s dad, a motoring writer, posted the letter on Twitter and alerted Musk to the suggestion. The CEO agreed and within four days the official contest, Project Loveday, was launched.
Tesla fans can submit a 90- second video from now until May 8 with 10 winners to be selected based on originality, creativity, relevance to Tesla and its mission, and entertainment value, the company says. Those top 10 submissions will be featured and shared on Tesla’s social media channels.
The judges will then whittle the list to the top three scores. Those three winners will receive additional promotion across social media channels. The highest score will be “grand prize winner”, and will be invited to ( and introduced) at a future Tesla product launch event.
Kiwi fans of the brand ( and there are many) can also enter the competition ( tesla. com/ en_ NZ/ project- loveday).
Videos can be no longer than 90 seconds and must relate to Tesla, SolarCity, the company’s products, or its mission to “accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy“, the company says in its rules. Participants must fill out an entry form and a YouTube link to the video.
