What I’d do

- Jeremy Dixon

1 The Warehouse Pakuranga is always a great place to get inspiration from street food for recipes for my next cookbook. I love the fresh smoothies, some of the vegetarian Indian food. And for meat eaters there are plenty of things to choose from. An atmosphere with food smells, happy people and a taste of the crowds and vibrancy of a street food market in Asia. It is a 8.6km run ( or 17.2km if you do the double lap) that starts from the Cossey's Dam in the Hunua Ranges up to the top of the hill, down through a magnificent valley full of native trees and bush. At the bottom the path crosses a river near Hunua Falls ( there are rocks and ropes to assist), and then up what seems like a billion steps and a flat straight to the finish line. You can also do it as a walk. trailbusterhunua2017.gofundraise.co.nz 3 I am always looking for solutions to make my cafes better for the planet. I am constantly amazed how some simple changes ( often at no extra cost) can make a massive difference. At Revive we recently started composting all our food waste and use compostable packaging for all our meals. Prior to this we were using about 100,000 items of plastic packaging a year. Auckland Go Green Expo, ASB Showgrounds, Epsom, tomorrow, 10am. 4 I love food fairs. This one focuses on gluten- free, vegetarian, organic and raw food, which is fantastic as that is my type of stuff. And just next door to the Go Green Expo ( which I am sure was brilliantly planned). Better Food Fair, ASB Showgrounds. Tomorrow, 10am.
