Contribute to making Auckland an attractive global city

The Auckland Regional Amenities Funding Board ( ARAFB) was established with a key purpose of providing a mechanism for sustainable and secure funding to ten amenities named by the legislation ( Auckland Regional Amenities Funding Act 2008). Appointments to the Board are made by the Auckland Regional Amenities Board ( 4 board members) and by Auckland Council ( 6 board members).

The Funding Board has responsibility on behalf of ratepayers to set and oversee the distribution of grants to the specified amenities in line with Council strategic goals.

The Amenities Board is seeking applications for the appointment of two members who are selected for a three year term, with eligibility for re- election. The positions are remunerated.

The ten amenities have all made significant contributions towards the wellbeing of the Auckland region, they are diverse delivering arts, culture, recreational, heritage, rescue services and others to the wider population of Auckland. With the opportunity to expand their scope to meet increasing demand for services, they make an impact on Auckland’s attraction as a vibrant place to live and visit.

Board members must have proven governance skills, a commercial approach - understanding drivers relevant to the community ( NFP) sector, and strategic perspective. Influencing Council, Board and 10 Amenities requires articulate communication, clear, logical presentation of opinions, and a collaborative, tenacious approach. It is your keen interest in Auckland regional activities and developments as well as community based organisations in general that will make this opportunity appealing.
