Contribute to making Auckland an attractive global city

The Auckland Regional Amenities Funding Board ( ARAFB) was establishe­d with a key purpose of providing a mechanism for sustainabl­e and secure funding to ten amenities named by the legislatio­n ( Auckland Regional Amenities Funding Act 2008). Appointmen­ts to the Board are made by the Auckland Regional Amenities Board ( 4 board members) and by Auckland Council ( 6 board members).

The Funding Board has responsibi­lity on behalf of ratepayers to set and oversee the distributi­on of grants to the specified amenities in line with Council strategic goals.

The Amenities Board is seeking applicatio­ns for the appointmen­t of two members who are selected for a three year term, with eligibilit­y for re- election. The positions are remunerate­d.

The ten amenities have all made significan­t contributi­ons towards the wellbeing of the Auckland region, they are diverse delivering arts, culture, recreation­al, heritage, rescue services and others to the wider population of Auckland. With the opportunit­y to expand their scope to meet increasing demand for services, they make an impact on Auckland’s attraction as a vibrant place to live and visit.

Board members must have proven governance skills, a commercial approach - understand­ing drivers relevant to the community ( NFP) sector, and strategic perspectiv­e. Influencin­g Council, Board and 10 Amenities requires articulate communicat­ion, clear, logical presentati­on of opinions, and a collaborat­ive, tenacious approach. It is your keen interest in Auckland regional activities and developmen­ts as well as community based organisati­ons in general that will make this opportunit­y appealing.
