America’s Cup match, tomorrow- Thursday ( if required) from 5am.

It’s a crazy schedule but one the crews — on and off the water — have to live with: Four races, a seven- day break and then two races a day on consecutive days until it is sorted. They’re back on the Sound from tomorrow morning, with TNZ four races and three points to the good. It’s worth setting the alarm for to watch what has been superb coverage with detailed graphics giving an armchair ride for those keen to get up close and personal — even if Jimmy the mouth can forget to watch his. The commentators have done their best to present a balanced view but it must have been hard at times in races one to four. It might get really interesting if Peter the Great can wrap it up. Under the banner headline “New Framework Agreement Creates Strong Future For The America’s Cup” earlier this year, it was stated that all but TNZ had signed off on what they, driven by Larry Ellison and Russell Coutts, perceived as the future of the Auld Mug, adding “we remain optimistic that they [ Team New Zealand] will come on board in the future”. Coutts has already shown his hand on that, saying he did not see the Cup’s future in New Zealand. It only adds more intrigue to what awaits on the waters of Bermuda.
