Starry night

-

It seems there are now a couple of generations who do not know what a normal night sky looks like. Do modern children even know what the Milky Way is? When I was a child, the street lights were turned off at 2am and I can remember more than one occasion when I could not sleep and just sneaked out into the garden with binoculars to look at the moon. It would be a great way to mark midwinter if this could be done again one night so everyone would have a chance to see what the universe looks like without the light pollution.
