Action- packed Amazing Chase set to kick off at Manukau

-

The hottest venue in town tomorrow will be at the Manukau Stadium where the inaugural running of greyhound racing’s exciting new race format the $ 30,500 Formpro Amazing Chase will be contested.

It features four action packed match races, involving t wo classy greyhounds matching their paws against each other over 527m while also racing against the clock.

$ 3000 awaits the winner of each matchup, while the loser picks up $ 1000. The greyhound who delivers the quickest 527m time will receive an additional $ 10,000, with bonus payments also being made to the next three quickest. The event ( race 10) is treated as one race by the TAB. The win dividend will be declared on the greyhound who clocks the swiftest time, while the place pay- out will be on the swiftest three times posted. The dividends on the exotic pools will be declared on the same format.

Final Field betting is available plus head to head fixed options is offered for each match race.

Odd numbered greyhounds will jump from trap one, while the even numbers will be loaded away into trap three.

It is an intriguing set of matchups. First up the proven Karen Walsh prepared Thrilling Flo takes on the exciting low- flying Canterbury chaser Tom Tee from the Ray Adcock kennels.

Local track knowledge owned by Thrilling Flo could see her producing an upset. “I expect Flo to deliver a competitive race, providing the track is firm,” said Walsh, while Adcock added about the series favourite, “The race format i s ideal for my bloke.”

The second matchup is an all Lisa Cole kennel affair with Bigtime Bell and Bigtime Paddy clashing. Brendon Cole says, “Both dogs are evenly matched. Paddy owns early pace, while Bell will finish strongly.”

It will be a fascinating square off between the Karen Walsh mentored class acts Thrilling Raider and Ridin’ Shotgun in the third match.

Ridin’ Shotgun rocketed around this circuit in a swift 30.22s when winning his maiden 527m race. Repeating that time is likely to see him winning not only the match but possibly the overall series.

“I do favour Ridin’ Shotgun mainly because he’s likely to lead Raider from the traps and I would expect his strength to carry him through,” advised Walsh.

It’s an interisland clash in the final match with Cawbourne Trixy for Matt Roberts taking on the Dave and Fahey trained Shantui. “Trixy will be improved from her Sunday trial up there,” said Roberts, while Dave Fahey suggests, “Shantui is suited by the two dog format.”
