Gold Coast 600, today from 12.15pm; tomorrow from 11.45am.

There has been action on and off the track this week as Supercars boss James Warburton called it quits, leading to a raft of tweets — from both camps — as fans spoke out. On the track, it is back to the concrete jungle that is the Gold Coast 600 at Surfers Paradise for the third, and final, leg of the Pirtek Enduro Cup. No Ford team has won the Cup in its first four years but with the marque holding the top three spots this year, that surely is about to change. Fabian Coulthard and Tony D'Alberto lead from Cam Waters and Kiwi Richie Stanaway. Another Kiwi, Chris Pither, with Dale Wood, is fifth. A win for Coulthard- D'Alberto or Scott McLaughlin- Alex Premat in either of the two 300km races would give DJR Team Penske their first victory at the circuit. But nothing is easy at a track where cars and concrete walls are all too often uncomfortable mates, so much so that in every race since the first of two in 2007, there has been a safety car intervention. After the dramas at the mountain, Coulthard has, despite picking up 35 penalty points, helped himself to a 91- point championship lead from Jamie Whincup, with McLaughlin a further six points back. Locals are pushing for Whincup to get up and claim the title after Shane van Gisbergen won for Kiwi fans a year ago. Pukekohe comes next. Cup, Mid Canterbury v Poverty Bay; West Coast v North Otago.

Farah Palmer Cup, today, semifinals, Counties Manukau v Auckland, ECOLight Stadium noon; Canterbury v Waikato, AMI Stadium 2.15pm; Otago v North Harbour, Forsyth Barr, noon.
