The Formula One silly season has just got more interestin­g. The honeymoon period may be over for new owners Liberty. First there has been tension in the camp with the response to the new engine specs, then Ferrari threatened to leave the sport — again. And now after nearly a year of silence, Bernie Ecclestone has lobbed a grenade into the paddock by suggesting Mercedes helped Ferrari because it needed a respected rival. If Bernie is back on the front foot, Formula One Group chief executive Carey Chase will have his work cut out.
