White ball cricket at its best. The last two ODIs between the Black Caps and Windies are at Hagley Oval today and on Tuesday. Expect plenty more discussion over NZC's rest and rotation policy, especially if things unravel without Kane and Tim. On Friday, the tempo changes as the two teams head to Nelson for the first of the T20s. India and Sri Lanka play their third T20 early on Monday morning in Mumbai. There are a couple of games in the Burger King Super Smash, which has lit up the local scene with plenty of runs and the Jesse factor. The Big Bash is under way. There’s only a limited New Zealand presence, with Dan Vettori and Stephen Fleming back as coaches of the Brisbane Heat and Melbourne Stars, Brendon McCullum wielding the willow for the Heat and Mitchell McClenaghan sharing the new ball for the Sydney Thunder. The Heat, Melbourne Renegades and Perth Scorchers (under coach Justin Langer) went in as favourites, with the Stars, who have Kevin Pietersen among their ranks, rated next best. There’s plenty of interest in captain McCullum and his Heat opening partner Chris Lynn, who has hit the most sixes in Super Smash history. While runs do not seem a problem, taking wickets might be. There’s a chance to also see the women in full flight today in the early game between the Sixers and Hurricanes.
