A quick word

Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Elton John, Sir Tom Jones, Stephen Hawking. Spot the odd one out.

Ron Hoares, Wellsford.

Stephen Hawking said when asked to explain Donald Trump’s meteoric ascendance to power, “I can’t. He is a demagogue who seems to appeal to the lowest common denominator.” Thanks for that Stephen and for everything else.

Rod Lyons, Muriwai.

Is it just me or have there been more strikes since the Labour-led Government got into power? Are the unions doing everything they can to undermine this Government?

Alan Kemp, Herne Bay.

If the Labour Party fiasco had happened anywhere else the police would have been called immediately and charges laid. But being a political party all sorts of excuses are made and accountability is ignored.

Paul Beck, West Harbour.

Clearly it’s not all Kumbaya and kombucha at Camp Ardern.

Mike Wagg, Freemans Bay.

What a waste. Firstly that a person of Dr O’Sullivan’s undoubted abilities is going into politics and secondly that he is approaching it with no idea which way his politics lie.

Greg Moir, Kerikeri. Police publish TV advertisements warning us of the dangers of speeding. Fleeing vehicles would be involved in fewer fatal crashes if the police adhered to the speed limit when they give chase.

Peter Webster, Beachlands.

May I suggest that if this was a church or school camp the police and several government departments would be all over it like a rash. The perception is that there is one rule for them and one rule for the rest of us.

Janet Boyle, Stanmore Bay.

World War III will be fought over water. Perhaps that war will start in New Zealand. L. A. Meech, Beach Haven.

Leave Ron Mark alone. As a military man he was flying about in the old 1965 Iroquois. Now as minister he can do what he likes in a modern machine. Best let him know, it doesn’t attract air points. Just the wrath of us longsuffering taxpayers. Nigel Bufton, Pauanui.

As the wagons draw into a tighter and tighter circle of yes men around the Tweeter-inChief, hopefully the great American people will, via the ballot box, make him swallow the bitter “your fired” pill. Brian Byrne,

St Heliers.

Julie Alison Hughes Why change something that is not broken? Hamilton is Hamilton. Just spending a lot of money that could be better spent elsewhere. Eg. Social housing, housing for families/disabled & elderly.
