What I’d do
Tom McRae
This morning, if I get a sleep1in,
it’s going to be a good day, but with a 1- year-old, that’s more miss than hit. Strong coffee and then down to our favourite cafe, Little King Cafe in Milford. My wife and I can dump our little man in the kids area and enjoy brunch.

I’ll usually try to squeeze in mowing the lawns before going to work in the afternoon – easily the most therapeutic chore.
As I work the weekends, my “Saturday night” actually falls earlier in the week when I have days off , so with that and a toddler, my big nights are behind me (mostly). But we usually catch up with friends and it’s hard to go past Burger Burger. Their cheeseburger washed down with a Leigh Sawmill Pilsner is pretty damn good. burgerburger.co.nz

Sunday morning usually sees us heading
for an early morning walk that ends up at the Takapuna markets. It’s an awesome mix of fresh fruit and vege, flower and food stalls. The buskers are great too. There’s a Turkish guy who makes the best pide and hummus. The simple things are always the best.
Takapuna Markets, 17 Anzac St, Takapuna. Opens 6am Sunday
