What I’d do
Donna Brookbanks
1 I spend pretty much every Friday night at
The Basement Theatre in Auckland City. I’ll be either watching or doing some stand-up in my good mate Nic Sampson’s weekly comedy show ‘Down to Clown, which is always super silly and fun. Then at 10pm I head into the main theatre to play some very silly improv with my friends in Snort. I can never keep a straight face on stage and I swear my mates are just the funniest eggs in the world. Afterwards we all drink some beers, talk comedy and hang out.

slow Saturday mornings I’m usually pretty
to start due to the late night. Once I’ve crawled out of bed I love going to Kokako in Grey Lynn, to pour coffee down my throat and do some writing. Their food is insane as well. I love it here.

On Saturday nights I generally hang
around my hood. You’ll often find me at Gypsy Tearooms in West Lynn with my two best pals It always feels like a big family here. The other week I found a lost dog outside and the whole bar pretty much got involved in trying to work out what to do with it. I tell ya, world problems are solved this way. Plus the bartender is constantly giving me good material for my shows, so I kinda owe him. I was going to give him a dog as a thank you, but he didn’t want it.

Ah, Sunday. I love spending time pottering
around in my garden but often my flatmate will convince me to go over the bridge and check out Junk and Disorderly for things I want but definitely don’t need. I also love having a look in Jetset Bohemian, round the corner from my house. Otherwise it’s gardening, hanging with my cat and Netflix.
