Israel Folau's problem is he is a Christian. If he had been a Muslim who held similar views then any criticism of him would have been considered Islamophobic.

Richard Prince, Tauranga.

Regardless of whether you think Israel Folau has the right to express his Victorian views, it’s a reminder there is nothing more nauseating than religious bigotry. Richard Irwin, Te Atatu South.

Any survey on cycling is pointless unless it distinguishes between cyclists who commute and those who use it as a leisure activity. One lot reduces traffic congestion; the other adds to it.

Roger Hall, Takapuna.

Surely Bill English would be a sitter for CEO of Fonterra. Home grown farmer boy with the mana and necessary skills.

Denis Vazey, Royal Oak.

Will the members of the Tupuna Maunga o Tamaki Makaurau Authority be walking up to their next meeting at the Maungawhau Kiosk? Bruce Tubb, Belmont.

If Israel Folau had said all Christians or all New Zealanders will go to hell unless they repent, we would have nodded at the obvious truth in the remark. Instead we get a media-generated storm in a thin-skinned and hypocritical teacup. Tony Molloy, Morrinsville. Brian Rudman is correct. The directors of Vector have been irresponsible in caring for our power lines and the public's 75 per cent share. It is their responsibility to underground the lines. Trees are not going to stop growing and we are likely to have more severe winds in future. Kay Irwin, Parnell.

Phil Goff says we get brilliant treatment from our public health system. I assume he and the Labour Party will be blaming the last Government for that. Fred Jones, Te Atatu Peninsula.

If some of the Christchurch properties are expected to cost close to $1 million to repair, surely it makes more economic sense to demolish them and build from scratch?

Maxine Samson, Whakatane.

When will Air New Zealand be giving potential passengers full details on which of their flights on Dreamliner aircraft have the engines outlined by the FAA and other regulators. As a passenger I have the right to know whether the flight I have booked is on an aircraft with potentially defective engines.

B.W.Casey, Torbay.

I have just had a lovely Maori telemarketer on the telephone to me and she couldn’t pronounce my name properly. Does this constitute racism? Jock MacVicar, Hauraki.
