SOAPBOX SYMPOSIUM WITH JOHN REYNOLDS Artist John Reynolds (pictured) invites art fair visitors to come and chat one-on-one, for “conjecture, idle talk and maybe an earful on any topic of your choice”. Reynolds will be at his booth, designed with architect Malcolm Walker, between 1pm-5pm each day of the fair, and also at the Art Party on Friday evening. BYO your Think Drink (aka coffee by Coffee Supreme) and witty banter.
WHAT’S NEW?
An unprecedented amount of new work is being produced for this year’s fair. Acclaimed artists including Simon Denny, Jess Johnson, Andy Leleisi’uao, Shane Cotton and Dale Frank will all show pieces that have never been seen before.
PROJECTS
Projects 2018 pushes boundaries — including some 18 emerging and established artists who will be show works around The Cloud. Projects 2018 also sees a number of commissioned pieces being created for the fair, including a much-anticipated piece by Elam graduate Hannah Valentine, commissioned by Deadly Ponies. Don’t miss Hikalu Clarke’s Lexus LC500 coupe, at the front of The Cloud, or Jade Parkes’ DIY caravan outside the harbour end.

BRINGING THE PACIFIC RIM TO LIFE
Showing some of the most interesting artists from the Pacific Rim under one roof, the Auckland Art Fair represents the best of the best from Karangahape Rd to New York City. Cutting-edge galleries include Totoral Lab from Santiago, Misha Shin from Tokyo, Bergman Gallery from Rarotonga and Redbase Art from Jakarta joining the likes of Starkwhite and Neon Parc.
EDITIONS
Nga¯ tahi Editions and Publications is a collaboration between nine leading non-profit galleries across Auckland. At the Nga¯ tahi Editions and Publications stand, you’ll find pieces from established NZ artists alongside the up-andcoming, with art ranging in price from $100-$2000. The organisations involved are Artspace, Corbans Estate Arts Centre, McCahon House, Malcolm Smith Gallery, Objectspace, St Paul St Gallery, AUT, Te Tuhi, and Te Uru.
DAILY BREAD AND NEW ZEALAND DRINKS
Josh Helm and Tom Hishon from Orphans Kitchen partner with Patrick Welsh to create something special. This Pt Chevalier bakery will showcase its signature 60 sourdough bread at the fair, and serve a range of sandwiches, pies and sweet pastries, using local organic ingredients.
