What to eat

-

“THIS,” said Kim, who doesn’t suffer fools or bad food, “is easily the best commercial made thousand island dressing I’ve ever had. I would buy this thousand island dressing by the jar if I could.” We had taken delivery of lunch from Think Food, via Uber Eats. All the kai is made fresh, daily, in its Parnell kitchen, including the dressings. The salad was bursting with a tonne of protein, was “nicely tangy” and there was a great ratio of fresh herbs to greens and a nice surprise of sweet potato at the bottom.

Did we mention there was A LOT of salmon? That is a rocking good deal for $13.50. Michelle had prawn and chicken laksa — we got the upsized protein version ($16), which was packed with tender chicken and gorgeous flavours. Greg had the king burger standard ($13.50), which he said featured not one but two enormous chicken breasts and he counted five rashers of bacon. He had to reheat his for a burst in the microwave. I had Korean fried chicken with a gorgeous salad of red cabbage, sprouts. It was fresh and gorgeous and satisfying. Sometimes buying lunch in the city is a total drag and a rip-off. Also there have been complaints that Uber Eats deliveries aren’t always a wild success — food is tepid or it doesn’t in any way relate to the version you ate once when you dined in, at the restaurant. We had no such complaints. Think Food’s menu is really interesting, with specific offerings on particular days. They don’t use refined sugar and offer paleo, GF and DF options. Smart AF. Verdict: crispy, crunchy, flavoursome, generous, reasonably priced and about as far from tasting like a limp cafe offering or a commercial fast-food delivery as you could get. Would eat — with considerable gusto — again. thinkfood.co.nz ubereats.com/en-NZ/auckland/food-delivery/think-food/
