What I’d do

- Wolfy

1 The morning is the perfect time for a walk in the Riverhead Forest —the woods, the animals, the fresh air! They’re a splendiferous source of inspiration and my head is filled with lovely thoughts.

2 Eating out is hard for a vegematarian wolf. Luckily Tart Bakery is a must for any vegematarians, whether they’re wolves or humans. All their pastry delights are vegan and I love sinking my big teeth into one of their cream doughnuts.

3 I love poetry. Reading lovely words makes me feel all warm and woolly. Unity Books is absolutely filled to the rafters with poetry of the greats and is one of the most cosy book nooks in the city. unitybooks.nz

4 After a good read, my next stop is the Auckland Art Gallery. Most wolves don’t like art but I don’t always act as a wolf should. I came last in my peoplescaring exams, after all. Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Ta¯ maki is holding a retrospective of New Zealand artist Gordon Walters who, I’m told, is very good. There are also other shows on each of the gallery’s floors and it’s the last day to see the charming Cate Blanchett in Manifesto. aucklandartgallery.com

5 Finally, I always try to take in as many theatre shows as my squinty eyes and pointy ears can handle. The Bruce Mason Centre in Takapuna is the perfect theatre to check out, especially in the school holidays. In fact, that’s where my best friend Heidi Hood and I are performing.

Wolfy stars in Windmill Theatre Co’s school holiday production Big Bad Wolf, at the Bruce Mason Centre from July 18-21.
