Seven secluded lots on idyllic Kawau

-

Seven secluded freehold titles for sale on idyllic Kawau Island will appeal to purchasers seeking an idyllic island lifestyle or weekend getaway.

Colliers International is marketing the 25.3ha landholding at Kawati Pt, which was featured the Colliers Portfolio released yesterday, as a single investment or as individual titles.

The fully-titled sites are accessed from renowned Vivian Bay, via a private deep-water jetty, a boardwalk and the only network of formed concrete tracks on the island.

These tracks are suitable for golf carts and similar small vehicles, which can be stored in the boatshed when not in use.

“Here’s an opportunity to create your own island getaway, right on Auckland’s doorstep,” points out special projects manager Roger Seavill. “This land is right at the northern tip of the island, offering direct access to two white sandy beaches, including private land access to a northfacing beach.

“Titles of between 1.6ha to 5.4ha are available, six with panoramic north-facing views towards the Tawharanui Peninsula, the Hauraki Gulf and beyond. The seventh site is on the Vivian Bay beachfront. The landholding as a whole covers about 3km of coastline.”

Under the present Rural and Coastal Settlement zoning, five of the titles have potential for further subdivision.

For those with access to a helicopter, a dedicated helipad means these retreats will be a 10-minute hop from Auckland.

A private jetty at Vivian Bay allows for a more leisurely hour-long cruise from the bustle of the city; or guests can catch the scheduled passenger ferry or a water taxi from Sandspit to Vivian Bay.”

Each of the titles comes with a cleared building site and access to services including mains power.

The lots, owned by Kawati Point Enterprises Ltd, are being sold by tender, closing at 4pm on September 12.

A separate company, Kawau Properties Jetty Ltd, will retain ownership of the jetty, boatshed, on-site water bore, pump, storage tanks and reticulation system.

Two of the company’s 14 shares will be allocated to each of the seven lot owners, while easements and rights of way are in place to ensure access to services.

Seavill says the island’s natural beauty adds to the appeal of these reclusive getaway sites.

“The lots are extensively planted with native manuka and kanuka. The coastline is adorned with pohutukawa and they enjoy a plethora of indigenous birdlife.”

Kawau Island is about 8km east of Sandspit and about 40km from Auckland CBD.
