Crown limos

-

There appears to be a general misunderstanding of the “costs” incurred by Simon Bridges, and others, with their usage of ministerial limousines. There are over 30 in the fleet, representing a taxpayer investment of over $6 million.

Whether they are sitting in a garage or being used, taxpayers have already incurred this cost. Same with the drivers whose salaries are being paid whether or not they are driving. The only real cost incurred when the cars are on the road is the fuel and other servicing requirements.

So when the public is told that Simon, Jacinda or any eligible user has run up a cost of X dollars, it is just a book-keeping charge to allocate the capital cost of the cars and the drivers’ salaries. No money changes hands. Accommodation, taxis, flights etc do cost, as third parties are the providers.
