What I’d do

This morning I’ll be recovering from the
at Galatos last night to celebrate Kiko’s EP release. They’re New Zealand’s hit new psychedelic blues rock band with a te reo twist. So to do that, I’ll be at the Grey Lynn Festival. Full of food, music and art, this is my favourite community event of the year. It’s sponsored by bFM so you know there will be some awesome bands playing. Last year there was even axethrowing. If I can’t find myself some good vegan kai I'll take a short walk up the road to grab some delicious Tart Bakery goodness.

Tonight from 9pm we’ll be heading to
Bar’s You Should Be Dancing night of smash disco hits from the 70s and 80s. It’s one of my favourite nights of the year, on par with the Bowie night where all the art kids that are too cool to dance when bands are playing lose their shit and disco down in their secondhand best. You can guarantee to find me somewhere in that sweaty crowd getting down to the likes of Earth, Wind, Fire, Abba, and Kool and the Gang, pretending I don’t live in an age of social media success. Midnight snacks between grooves come courtesy of K Rd’s Lord of The Fries.

Tomorrow is my favourite day
the year. You can feel it in the air, some cheeky stores put their decorations up in October but now all shop windows have followed suit as a terrifying reminder of what is just weeks away: Christmas. From 1pm it is the Santa Parade and this year is very special. Not only is it the 85th anniversary of the parade but I’ve roped my mum, sister and cousin along to don some of costume-maker Ronelle's incredible costumes and strut down Queen St like clowns. Come down early to secure the perfect spot to see Santa on his sleigh and be in pole position to get lollies and treats from the fairies and characters in costume. Then join us after the parade in Aotea Square, where the festivities continue.
