COATESVILLE

100 Screen Road

Aucklander Angela always thought she was a city girl through and through — but she was wrong.

When she found her dream home in a semi-rural location in Coatesville, she and her family left urban living for a complete change of scenery, and she hasn’t regretted it for a moment.

“We’re in this beautiful, peaceful location in the country but we’re only half an hour from the city centre or 10 minutes from Albany. It’s the perfect spot.”

Angela and her husband had been living in Grey Lynn with their three children and looking for somewhere bigger when she spotted the For Sale sign for the Screen Rd house while on her way to visit family.

“I didn’t know the area, but as soon as I saw the house, I thought, Yes! It was brand new, and had everything we wanted.”

The immaculate farmhousestyle home is reached via a long driveway off Screen Rd, a private road.

A wide path leads up to the striking wooden double front doors, creating a grand sense of arrival.

The home tastefully combines character features such as tongue-and-groove ceilings and doors, ceiling trusses, plantation shutters and French oak floors.

There are modern touches such as ducted heating, wireless control systems for the heated pool and the latest appliances in the designer kitchen.

The house has been thoughtfully designed, with the open plan living, dining and kitchen area located between two bedroom wings.

Bifold doors in the central part of the house open up to the deck, loggia and swimming pool. There’s a picturesque outlook across to native bush, including pohutukawas the couple have planted, and rolling hills.

The loggia features an open fire and pizza oven, while a second deck looks down on a flat area behind the house that could be turned into a tennis court, or a grazing paddock for animals if fences were put up.

As well as the open plan lounge, which has a gas fire, there’s also a media room with a sliding barn door. The kitchen is a cook’s dream thanks to the gas oven, integrated double fridge and scullery with a second dishwasher and wine fridge.

The bedrooms are located in the two separate wings. On one side are two children’s bedrooms, linked by a Jack-andJill bathroom. The other wing houses a powder room, guest bedroom with en suite and another room that the family currently uses as a playroom.

The master bedroom looks out over the pool to the rural surroundings. It comes with a generous walk-in wardrobe and a large en suite.

As well as a triple internal access garage there is also a free-standing barn-style garage that was built to house a boat and alongside the home is a two-bedroom second dwelling that is currently rented out.

The family is reluctantly moving on after a year thanks to a new opportunity that’s taking them out of Auckland.

Agent Nicky White from Precision Real Estate says many people don’t realise just how quick and easy it is to get from Coatesville to the North Shore or the city. “This house is in a great setting yet it’s so close to everywhere.”
