Currently 373 people are employed by the trusts.

Less than 10 of those staff are paid $100,000 per year or more. More than 30 staff are paid the minimum wage of $15.25 per hour - these positions are all entry level or training positions, the trusts say.

The trusts say it could pay a number of these people the starting out wage of $12.20 but it has chosen not to do so. More than 260 are paid less than the ‘living wage’ of $19.80 per house.

TRUSTEE SALARIES

The two presidents of the licensing trusts, linda cooper and ross clow, receive $30,000 per year for the job. Each elected member of the licensing trusts’ boards is paid $280 per meeting. They are only paid for meetings they attend.

THE TRUSTS ARENA

The trusts’ sponsorshi­p of the arena is its most recognised sponsorshi­p. Arena chief executive mark gosling says 85 per cent of its revenue is recovered from arena users with the remaining 15 per cent coming from the trusts and regional facilities Auckland.
