Property prices still high in west Auckland

- STAFF REPORTER

Properties in west Auckland are continuing to increase in value, whereas other areas are slipping behind.

Home sale prices in the Western Leader’s circulation area increased by 2.2 per cent in the September quarter, Barfoot & Thompson director Peter Thompson says. The average 12 month sales price reached $826,000.

‘‘Across most of the city increased mortgage deposit levels and buyer restraint are definitely having an impact on sale prices.’’

Thompson says this impact is not being seen to the same extent in west Auckland with buyers still seeing value in the property at current values.

‘‘In September the average sales price achieved was $857,000,’’ he says.

This was four per cent, or $31,000,
