Well after a miserable week last week the sun has come out and we’ve had some good news.

Young westies Nicola Korck and Kanah Andrews-Nahu have captured $10,000 scholarships from AMP. Out of thousands of Kiwis, these two teenagers won two out of ten available scholarships up against scholars and athletes from around New Zealand.

A truly incredible achievement and I know they will make very good use of the money as they look to compete against the world’s best in the coming years - this won’t be the last we hear of them.

Avondale’s Dale the spider has also brought a community together. It’s been heartening to see the conversations residents are now having in the Whau about the future of Avondale.

I know there is a lot to love about Avondale and the community have spoken - they value Dale, and each other. We look forward to covering more Avondale issues and solutions.
