GANG MEMBER ARRESTED

A senior Mongrel Mob member has been arrested and charged in relation to a burglary in Waita¯kere, Waitemata¯ Police said. He was located on September 8 and faced charges including burglary and possession of a firearm.

RESCUE MISSION

The Auckland Westpac Rescue Helicopter was sent to Glen Eden for a man suffering a medical complaint on September 7. Crew arrived just after 1pm and transporte­d the man, in his 50s, to Auckland City Hospital in a critical condition.

DUCK ROAD BLOCK

The city-bound lane on the Northweste­rn Motorway was blocked by wandering ducks on September 11. The flock was clustered near the Rosebank Rd exit about 8am, the New Zealand Transport Agency said. Delays were expected and the ducks were safely clear 30 minutes later, it said.

VEHICLE CHECKS

Police had about 300 vehicles pass through its checkpoint on Hutchinson Ave, New Lynn on September 8. Waitemata¯ Police said about 50 cars were checked for child restraints and advice given for keeping passengers safe.

DON OLIVER AWARDS

Don Oliver Youth Sports Foundation are hosting its annual awards event for pre-elite west Auckland athletes on September 20. The event will recognise 20 young athletes across different sporting codes and will be held at The Trusts Arena in Henderson. More than 200 people will attend. CLARIFICAT­ION

A story in the Western Leader on September 7, said the area around Lynmall was the worst for car thefts in the Waita¯kere policing area. This is true, but it’s worth noting the area is a policename­d category and includes the whole of New Lynn town centre and the surroundin­g streets.
