POLICE PURSUITS

Two teenagers have been arrested in relation to two pursuits involving stolen vehicles on September 9. Police attempted to stop a stolen vehicle driving erraticall­y in Henderson about 11pm before it crashed into a tree. Its occupants attempted to abandon the vehicle. One person was caught nearby and another fled. A short time later a stolen vehicle was involved in a police pursuit before crashing at the intersecti­on of View Rd and Millbrook Rd. The driver was allegedly involved in the earlier crash, police said. Both 18 year olds were charged with unlawfully taking a motor vehicle and reckless driving. Police said they were due to appear in court on September 13 and 14, 2018.

OIL SPILL

Petrol spilled on a large stretch of Central Park Drive in Henderson, alongside the Trusts Arena on September 12 caused cars to slip. Northern fire communicat­ions shift manager Jaron Phillips said fire crews were at the scene since 7.30am to assist.

LIBRARY REPAIRS

The reopening of Titirangi Library has been delayed. Auckland Council project delivery head John Schermbruc­ker said it was supposed to reopen this month but builders refurbishi­ng and fixing it up had come across some problems. The roof needed extra repair due to rust and there was a gap in the building paper. It was now expected to reopen in mid-November, he said.

INDIGENOUS INCLUSION

Massey High School’s deputy head boy Te Ruki Pierce-Dunn hopes to bring back meaningful insights from the United Nations to help New Zealand’s indigenous people. He was one of 22 students chosen to represent NZ at the 2018 Global Developmen­t Tour. Te Ruki said as a Ma¯ori and Samoan student, he was interested in looking into the focus of inclusion of indigenous cultures from the UN.

KIDS TRYATHLON

Sanitarium Weet-Bix Kids Tryathalon has added a west Auckland series to its calendar. It will take place at Henderson High School on December 17.
