US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un will meet at a luxury resort on Sentosa Island for nuclear talks on Tuesday in Singapore, the White House said yesterday. The historic summit will be held at the Capella Hotel, press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders tweeted.

Weinstein plea

Former movie mogul Harvey Weinstein yesterday pleaded not guilty to rape and criminal sex act charges in New York after a grand jury charged him with raping a woman in a hotel room and forcing another to perform oral sex in his office. Weinstein has denied all allegation­s of nonconsens­ual sex.

Designer found dead

Kate Spade, the lauded American fashion designer, was found dead yesterday in her New York apartment on Park Avenue in a suspected suicide. Spade, 55, was discovered by her housekeepe­r. Police said she left behind a note but declined to discuss its contents.

Lava destroys houses

Lava from Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano has destroyed hundreds more homes, overtaking two oceanfront communitie­s where residents were advised to evacuate last week, officials said yesterday. No injuries were reported as most residents heeded the advice to leave. The latest lost homes were in addition to at least 117 others that were previously reported by officials since lava began spilling last month from cracks in the ground in a mostly rural district of the Big Island.

Ethiopia-Eritrea deal
