-

Lucky Bar favourite Rhian Wood-Hill is back! Fresh from NZ International Comedy Festival and a Best Comedy win at Nelson Fringe, Rhian is bringing his new hour-long special, , to Whanganui for one night only, this Friday, June 29.

Rhian had some serious ups and downs as a professional poker player for two years, which has made for some great material. Now an award-winning comedian, it seems Rhian’s luck has turned and he is celebrating at Lucky Bar + Kitchen!

On stage and at the poker table Rhian has charm, wit, and thorough analysis ensuring his success — although his career has not landed him in comedy without some ludicrous risks.

strips Rhian and his own decisions bare to show the highs and lows of living off casino cash on the Brisbane coast. After considering more than 500 submissions and hearing from more than 80 submitters, Horizons Regional Council adopted its final Long-term Plan for the next 10 years last Wednesday.

The 2018-28 Long-term Plan will guide the way Horizons manages the region’s land, air and water resources.

Chairman Bruce Gordon says this year council heard from a large number of passionate community members who shared their feedback on the key issues highlighted in the consultation document.

“These topics included changes to river management schemes, economic development and a proposed regional facilities fund, freshwater management,

Rhian has a bizarre personal life and the talent to tell it well. Winner of Best Comedy at Nelson Fringe Festival, Wood-Hill takes comedy beyond the observational and invites his audience to share in his own real and ridiculous experiences.

Rhian’s former poker career has provided a wealth of compelling comedy material and his lifestyle shows no signs of settling down, distinguishing him as a comedian with a career of fascinating shows ahead of him.

Unwaiveringly optimistic plans for 2018/19 include a 500 mile walk across Australia’s coastline, training for a spot at the Olympics, and Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Rhian WoodHill’s comedy is raw and personable but we really hope that everyone else’s lifestyle is far less chaotic.

“Following submissions and deliberations, council has identified which work programmes will require an increased expenditure, resulting in a 7.04 per cent average rate increase across the region for Year 1, 3.94 per cent average for Year 2, and 3.69 per cent average in Year 3. Bear in mind this regional rate average will differ between districts due to factors such as changes to property values, and specific rating inputs such as river schemes and urban passenger transport rates.

“This included setting aside $50,000 per year to fund works to progressively make the Anzac Parade area in Whanganui more resilient to flooding; investing $4.9 million over 30 years to ensure river training structures along the lower reach of the Lower Whanganui River continue to be effective; and partnering with Horowhenua District Council to build a new flood relief pipeline for Foxton.”
