Woman’s Day (New Zealand)

Mum’s the word: It’s no. 3!

Glowing Kate’s tickled pink

- #

Tenderly touching her stomach as she made her way on to the balcony of Buckingham Palace, the Duchess of Cambridge couldn’t hide her smile at the royal gathering to celebrate the Queen’s official birthday.

And now palace insiders are whispering about a possible secret behind Kate’s glowing happiness, speculating that baby number three is on its way!

Woman’sDay is told the duchess and her husband Prince William, both 35, are readying themselves to make the exciting announcement in the coming weeks.

“Kate’s ecstatic at getting pregnant again,” a well-placed royal source tells us. “She and William have been trying for some time for a third baby and the timing couldn’t be better. Prince George is turning four next month and starting school, while Princess Charlotte has just turned two.

“Plus, Pippa’s wedding has come and gone, so she doesn’t need to worry about taking the limelight away from her sister on her own special day. Both Kate and Wills are over the moon.”

Certainly, the signs of an early pregnancy are all there. Not only was Kate spotted touching her stomach and covering her belly with her handbag at a series of royal events last week, but the protective affection being lavished on her by a doting William is also clear to see.

Inthepink!

Just days after the festivities of Trooping the Colour, the couple joined the rest of the royals again at Ascot Racecourse, where they were seen sharing knowing glances and tender smiles.

Although it’s thought Kate and William are yet to learn if they’re having a boy or a girl, the duchess’ decision to step out in a stunning all-pink Alexander McQueen outfit had royal watchers wondering if perhaps her motherly instinct is telling her it could be a little sister for George and Charlotte.

“Kate is the happiest she’s ever been and she’s got a husband who absolutely dotes on her, as well as a job that, much to her surprise, she adores,” says our source, adding that Kate is enjoying the increased royal workload she’s taken on in the past year as she prepares to send her oldest off to school.

“Becoming a mother has given her so much confidence. For a while, with the royals, she always used to feel like an outsider, but she’s now earned herself a huge place in people’s hearts.

“She keeps telling friends she can’t believe how lucky she is.”

With two siblings of her own – newlywed Pippa

Matthews, 33, and 30year-old brother James Middleton – Kate has long said she too would love to have three children and now it seems she’s finally seeing that dream become a reality.

Relishing his role as a father, William is also keen to expand their family. Our future king’s ease with his children was obvious as he joked around with a thrilled George and Charlotte during the Queen’s 91st birthday celebrations.

Pulling funny faces and pointing out the planes flying overhead, the proud young father was in his element playing with his adorable children, who stole the show during the Trooping the Colour parade in London, and that joy is only topped by the knowledge that his brood will soon be expanding,” says the source.

For now, we’re told Kate has managed to stave off the crippling morning sickness that struck during

her previous pregnancies. But even if it should return, our insiders say the duchess will do everything she can to ride it out and keep her smile firmly in place.

“She’s a trooper like that – she just grits her teeth and gets on with it,” says our royal source. “You won’t ever hear her complain, not even once. She knows that it will all be worth it when she is finally holding her

new baby in her arms.”

With Kate and William ready to relocate to London and set up a permanent home in Kensington Palace ahead of George’s first day at school in September, there’s no denying this royal bub will have a different upbringing to George and Charlotte’s idyllic early years in country Norfolk.

But with the prince and his wife both vowing they’re determined to give their little ones as normal a childhood as possible, it’s safe to say royal baby number three will be just as happy and content as his or her sweet sibling. We can’t wait!
