With a baby daughter on the way, one might think Laura McGoldrick would be winding down. But when Woman’sDay sits down to chat with the soon-to-be mum and wife of cricket legend Martin Guptill, we find out the busy bee’s fresh from following the Lions tour as a Sky Sports presenter and she’s been working away on her blog. Now the 28-year-old is making her debut on Three’s hit local series Westside as Wendy, the crime couple’s nosy neighbour.

Before Westside, you were working as a TV presenter. How was it adjusting from presenting to acting?

Not hard at all! I always wanted to be an actress and grew up doing it in Christchurch. I trained in performing arts, so it was just doing what I love.

Will there be more acting in your future?

Absolutely, no doubt about it. It’s good for my soul that sort of stuff. I really enjoy acting and want to keep trying my hand at it. My dream would be to work on some kind of musical turned movie.

How do you balance such a busy schedule?

Girls can do anything! There’s no secret on how I do it. I just keep a good diary and have good people around to support me.

What was the last movie you saw?

My hubby goes away a lot and we like to go to the movies together, so I haven’t seen many lately. But the last movie I saw was

Beautyand

theBeast. I took my two grandmothers to it and they both loved it.

Is your husband Marty a fan of Westside?

He was brought up out west, so he’s a big fan of Outrageous

Fortune and Westside. He was definitely excited when I got my role on the show.
