Lift your BROWS!

For a well-groomed look, choose the products that work for you

-

From weak and wispy to full and fierce, or just soft and natural, there are plenty of ways to ensure you’re rocking your very best brows. The options available can be overwhelming, so which product should your choose?

1USE A PENCIL if you have gaps to fill or need to create a strong shape at the start of each brow. Never draw a solid line with a brow pencil. With a very light hand, sketch in fine, short strokes that mimic natural hair, reassessing constantly before continuing – less is more! A very fine tip is ideal for precision. 1. Benefit Precisely, My Brow Pencil, $44.

2 USE A POWDER if you have a decent amount of hair but are after a fuller, more groomed appearance. Brush hair upwards with a spoolie brush (similar to a mascara wand), then smooth the shape downwards when you get beyond the arch. Use a dense, angle brush to sweep on powder in small strokes, filling out the shape you’re after. 2. Mellow Brow Powder Duo, $22.

3USE A SOLID GEL OR WAX if your hairs are unruly or sprout out at odd angles. Applied with an angle brush, these add dense colour and hold to fill in larger gaps and secure hairs in place, but run the risk of looking blocky, so don’t paint it on with a heavy hand! 3. Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Brow Gel, $54, & 4. Brush, $70.

4USE A WAND GEL WITH A BRUSH if you want well maintained yet unstructured brows or if you have few hairs, or they are a very light colour and you want to volumise them. Brush lightly over so that hairs pick up the pigment but it doesn’t colour your skin. 5. Elizabeth Arden Statement Brow Defining Gel, $49.

5WANT SOMETHING MORE PERMANENT? Feathering or microblading is a semipermanent option designed to subtly fill sparse or gappy brows and augment natural ones with a treatment akin to tattooing. It involves using a tiny row of needles to scratch carefully crafted lines into the skin to mimic natural hair. A pigment matching your own brow colour is then applied over the top. The end result is waterproof and d can last from nine to 24 months, depending on your r skin type (oily skin generally y doesn’t hold the pigment well and will fade quicker). Numbing cream means the pain is minimal, but it’s not cheap. A reputable brow artist ist st will charge upwards of $3000 per session and most people le e require two sessions.
